Siri: Does Not Work Properly Outside The US

The most highlighted feature of the latest mobile operating system iOS 5 is Siri, we all are talking about even before Apple’s event, when iOS 5 and iPhone 4S were announced with their new features. Siri is said to be the best feature among all other innovations associated with iPhone 4S and iOS 5. However, after the release of both Apple’s new product, the users out of the US who experience the Siri feature are complaining that it does not work properly, and its performance does not match to that stated by Apple at its event.

Users belonging to outside US, especially in Canada and UK using iOS 5 and Siri gave their reviews about their experience. In their reviews, they stated that Siri doesn’t perform the function in the manner as Apple announced.

iDownloadblog via its post says:

New iPhone 4S owners in the UK and Canada have both reported that one of the party tricks of Siri, being able to find restaurants nearby, doesn’t work. When asking Siri to find eating establishments, or anything else location-based, for that matter, our new digital friend politely refuses, informing disappointed users that he, or indeed, she, can only look for businesses in the United States, and when you’re using US English. The same goes for maps and traffic.

Well, this is the matter that people outside US cannot enjoy all the benefits at its best of iOS 5, the reason is that some aspects of the digital AI are not available for outside users. However, we hope Apple will soon make efforts to fix this problem.

This is typical of apple, and also of other companies.
For some reason, they only think of US users when doing anything. Look at the MB Air, a fantastic idea in the USA, but a pretty naff one in El Salvador wher I live, and the data rates are low, and wifi does not magically appear everywhere I am, same for the ‘cloud’ great if you live in the USA, not so great in most other places. The combined populations of the rest of the world must outnumber the US around 7 or 8 times, but everything seems to work around the US. Want to use netflix? Better live in the US, want to buy some of the better apps in the android market or apple store? Guess what, better live in the US. The rest of the world appears to be considered as not worthy, and it sucks…..
I have a disposible income after tax and all outgoings of over 12k per month, I would love to rent movies, buy apps etc, but it is denied to me because I dont live there physically. So what do I do? Well, nothing, there is nothing I can do.

Siri doesn’t work, it doesn’t recognize simple words. I try to tell: “tell sara I’ll go for a pizza” about twenty times, it ended up calling other people and when I got it to understand the command “tell” it got a completely different message text in it. And I think it cud only work if setted up by registering the voice tone by reading a text message going to be sent. I think it needs a lot of work, maybe an idea to make it a faster in learning cud also be after the speak to give some texts phrases to choose, so it cud recognize always better the words said.
Until now it’s like an experience with a beta version of something that will come in the future.

The only things that I would really apreciate in the iphone would be:
    Video calls
    To be much less fragile
To have a light settings for pictures separated from the focus setting
    To have a better flash
And better battery, after one day of use it is down.
    That’s it
